Tools For the DIY'er

*This post is sponsored by The Home Depot

If you are a DIY’er who prefers to fix things around the house, there are some tools you will need. Some are absolute necessities, others are just great to have around. Here’s a list of a few I recently got to try out.

The first on the list is the Dremel Multi Max. This is a 3.5 AMP Variable speed corded oscillating tool and this kit comes with a storage bag and 12 accessories.

This tool does it all, you can use it to cut wood, metal or drywall, so it is the perfect tool for a ton of different applications. It even has sanding attachments so you can use it smooth down those hard to reach areas.

My favorite feature on this multi tool is the quick change feature, the blades and accessories are so easy to swap out, you can you do it it with one hand and no tools are required. You can also change the speed from 10K - 21K oscillations per minute so you have full control over various different materials.

The only downside is the cord, so if you are looking for a cordless option, you might want to check out the DeWalt Cordless Oscillating Tool

Along with the tool, this kit comes with a battery, charger, a couple blades and a bag to hold everything. Because this tool has a brushless motor, it will run up to 57% longer than similar brushed tools.

This tool is really comfortable to hold and I love the large dual grip variable speed trigger. I really feel like I have full control over my cuts at any angle. It also features a super bright LED light which would be perfect if you are working in a dark space.

My only gripe with this tool is the way you change the blade. It is supposed to be a quick-change system where you press a lever to pop the accessories in and out but I found this lever to be a bit difficult to press. It is supposed to be a one handed operation but I could only do it with two hands. This might be easer for someone a bit stronger than me to do….

Speaking of strength, if you need to do some tough demo work, look no further than the Milwaukee Cordless Super Sawzall.

This kit comes with a 12 AH battery, charger and carrying case. Reciprocating saws can easily cut through wood or metal and this saw has and on/off orbital action that allows you to change the aggressiveness of the cut to accommodate for these diffrent materials.

Some other great features are the variable speed trigger so you have perfect control over your cut, and an adjustable shoe that extends the life of your blade. The blades are also easily replaced using the quick locking blade feature.

I love when tools like this come with a battery and charger since it opens up your options to other tools on the same platform.

We’ve covered some cutting tools, lets move on to drilling…

The Ridgid 18V Hammer Drill/Driver is a beast.

This is not just a drill. There are three different modes, driving, drilling and hammer mode, switching between these modes is done by a simple switch and then you can also adjust the torque for over 100 settings for various applications.

Since this has a 1/2” chuck, it opens up your options to using larger bits so you can drill large holes, drive screws into wood or hammer into brick or masonry.

This is not sold as a kit, so the battery and charger are not included.

Now where are we going to store all these tools?!

Tools like this are not tools I use everyday as a woodworker. These would be more DIY home renos and repairs, so I don’t need them hanging on my pegboard.

I store tools like this in my Husky Mobile Job Box.

This 37” tool box is the perfect storage solution for these tools. It is huge (50 gallons) so it fits a ton of tools! You can lock your tools away for safekeeping and if you are on a jobsite you can lock the box and run a charging cord through it so you’re tools can charge while its locked!

The large pull out handle and 8” all terrain wheels makes it really easy to roll around. Once you get it to the site you can even use it as a mini workbench. Just set a miter saw on it and you’ll be good to go.

It also has a removable tool caddy so you can carry around the smaller tools you need.

Once you’re done lugging it around, it can be easily stacked and stored away.
